MINUTES

  1. Apologies for absence

APOLOGIES were received from Cllr Cox, Cllr Fox, Cllr Hoskins & Cllr Egleton.

2.  RESOLVED to confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 21 April 2016 which  were signed by the Chairman.

  1. Chairman’s Annual Report.

Cllr Bagge welcomed everyone to the meeting, he started by explaining the role of a Parish Councillor, and how it is a voluntary role and that this Parish had councillors who were very committed to the role, and were passionate about improving the quality of life for the residents who live in the village.

A slide show was shown including the following events over the past year:

He reported that the Queens 90th Birthday Celebration party held in the Bells Hill recreation ground was a huge success, and included dancers, a people’s choir, last night at the proms followed by a band.

A trip to Etricourt Manancourt in France following an invitation from the Mayor to celebrate Dorothy Allhusen who lived in Stoke Poges during the first world war and helped fund installing mains water into their village, they re-named their square after Stoke Poges in recognition of the financial support received from our parish.

The Christmas lights was a huge success again, there were more lights on the Green which was well received.  It is hoped to have even more this year.

The Rogers Lane parking restrictions have been successful, and the improved walking access to the shops in Bells Hill Green also.

The Parish Council have finally signed a lease with SBDC to take over the maintenance of the Bells Hill Green.  A new flag pole has been installed.  A contractor has been appointed to keep the green areas maintained.

Cllr Carter has successfully managed to get BCC to run a trial of re-routing the school buses away from residential roads such as Vine Road, Hazell Way and Rogers Lane, and keep them to the main roads.  It has become apparent that they should never have routed down these roads in the first place.

In 2017 the Parish Council will have paid off the short term loan for the new Pavilion.  Planting will have begun on Bells Hill Green.  It is hoped that a jogging/walking trail will be installed in Bells Hill recreation ground.  Bollards to be installed at Bunby Road junction with Pennylets Green and Hastings Meadow, and grass-crete on Vine Road to make additional parking.

There will be a litter picking evening on Wednesday 26 April, from 6pm, meeting at the Village Centre.

The Parish Council have been approached about the possibility of opening up their side of the pond for viewing, a consultation will take place in June/July this year.

An outdoor cinema will be held on Friday 8 September 2017 in Bells Hill recreation ground.

In 2018 there will be WW1 Centenary celebration on 8 July 2017, it is hoped that representatives from Etricourt-Manancourt will attend.

A statue/memorial will be installed on Bells Hill Green for the WW1 centenary.

Councillor Bagge finished his presentation by thanking all of the Parish Councillors and their spouses for their hard work and commitment to their roles and also The Parish Clerk.
