Christmas Parking
Chiltern District Council and South Bucks District Council are once again waiving charges and offering visitors and shoppers free car parking in the council-run car parks on various dates in the run up to Christmas.
Both councils have been running this initiative for several years to give local businesses, visitors and shoppers a seasonal boost.
Chiltern District Councillor Mike Smith, Cabinet Member for Environment says: “Each year we offer five free days’ parking to all the towns and parishes in which we have car parks. The towns and parishes then decide when to use those days to suit their individual event calendars throughout the year and I’m delighted that we are able to offer free parking on selected dates across eight of the council-run car parks during the festive season. Our District has some wonderful shops, ideal for Christmas shopping, and also plenty of places to stop for a cup of tea or bite to eat. I do hope that people will support their local high street during this key time of the year.”
South Bucks District Councillor Luisa Sullivan, Portfolio Holder for Environment says: “Christmas is an important time of the year for our local shops, restaurants, pubs and other businesses. The free parking offer has proved very successful over previous years, and I hope that it will once again encourage residents to shop more locally and continue to support businesses in our district.”
The free parking offer only applies to council-run car parks on selected dates. It does not include on-street parking or private car parks.
