Planning application in for Bells Hill access ramp

Stoke Poges Parish Council has submitted a planning application for an access ramp to the Post Office and pharmacy from Bells Hill Green.

The application can be viewed online at the South Bucks planning portal. The application reference is 11/00147/FUL. There is provision for submitting comments online, including comments in support of this proposal.

South Bucks’ planning system shows a target determination date of 1 April.

Friends of Stoke Common AGM

The Friends of Stoke Common A.G.M. will be held at the Village Centre on Wednesday, 26th January at 7.30p.m. The meeting is open to the public, any residents interested in work taking place on the Common are welcome to attend .

Martin Hartup, Head Ranger in Burnham Beeches will present a review of the year’s work and talk about reptiles on Stoke Common.

There will be an opportunity to raise any questions about management of the Common.

Stoke Poges Brownies bury Centenary time capsule

To celebrate the Centenary of Girlguiding, 1st Stoke Poges Brownies have buried a Centenary time capsule. The Brownies hope to be moving into the newly developed St Andrew’s Youth Centre in the near future. The time capsule was buried in the foundations of the new entrance steps to the Youth Centre.

The capsule includes information on Stoke Poges Brownies and the special activities they have been undertaking to celebrate the Centenary, including Challenge 100. The capsule also includes Centenary badges and photographs of the Brownies.

Brown Owl, Rosie Wicks-Farr said: “Each Brownie created a personal profile of herself by drawing around their hands and then wrote their names and information on their interests and activities they enjoy at Brownies”.

Barn Owl Sarah Marzetti said: “We encouraged the girls to think about what people might like to know about Brownies in 2010, and asked them to imagine they were telling their story to Brownies in 100 years time.”

Stoke Poges Brownies have loved taking part in the Centenary Events, including the Buckinghamshire Brownie Circus Fun Day at Aston Clinton.

007 Aston Martin returns to Stoke Park

Attended by over 400 enthusiasts, the inaugural Midsummer Classic and Thunderball attracted the crème de la crème of Aston Martin cars to Stoke Park on Saturday 26th June.

Among more than fifty Aston Martin and Lagondas on display in the warm sunshine was the world’s most famous car, the actual DB5 used in the making of Goldfinger (filmed at Stoke Park) and Thunderball.

At the evening’s James Bond-themed ThunderBall dinner and dance guests enjoyed a spirited Bonhams auction of Aston Martin, James Bond and luxury lots to raise funds in support of Help for Heroes.
