Welcome to a new look Stoke Poges Singers!
We have a trendy new logo together with a new musical director and a fresh and exciting repertoire ranging from Brahms through Bruckner to Sullivan, the Beatles and Arvo Pärt.
We are a mixed voice (SATB) choir whose motto is ‘Singing for Pleasure’. We sing accompanied by piano or organ, a range of musical instruments or ‘a cappella’.
There are no auditions and it is not essential to be able to read music. We hold three concerts a year raising funds for a variety of local charities – from Toilet Twinning to Wexham Park Special Care Baby Unit.
Our musical director, Andy Langley, is passionate about choral music from the Renaissance to the 21st century. He has started a choir at his place of work, sings bass with the Bach Choir and London Symphony Chorus as well as regularly conducting the Blackfriars Sinfonia.
Today we are increasingly aware of the health and social benefits of singing in a choir. It is known to help stave off dementia and combat loneliness as well as hugely adding to a sense of purpose and well-being.
New members are always welcome, and you can try us out with no obligation.
We rehearse on Thursday evenings 7.45 – 9.45 in St Andrew’s Church Hall, Rogers Lane, Stoke Poges.
