Who are 1st Stoke Poges Guides?

The Girl Guide Association is an international organisation for girls aged between 10 and 14. It is the UK’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, with around half a million members. 1st Stoke Poges Guides meet regularly every week and cover a wide programme of activities aimed at challenging girls and pushing the boundaries of their experience. They are an inclusive organisation and aim to cater for any girl who is interested in joining regardless of background or ability.

What do 1st Stoke Poges Guides get up to?

Guides aims to be a girl lead group and so a group discussion is held each term to decide which part of the Guide programme the girls are interested in covering. Most activities are done during the regular weekly meeting and have included things like team-building activities, learning about what to do in an emergency, performing arts (dance & acting), learning survival skills, film watching and pamper evenings.

They Guides have also had some events which have taken part outside the meeting place. This year they have been on a weekend Guide holiday, a boating day where they sailed and rowed, orienteering in Langley Park, and on a trip to the O2 to see Disney on Ice.
As girls progress through Guiding they have additional opportunities to join in with regional events. For example, one of the unit recently went forward to be selected to attend an international camp.

Can I get involved?

1st Stoke Poges Guides are currently a small unit and have spaces for other girls who wish to join.
