Stoke Poges Parish Council

Stoke Poges Community Hub - Launch Event

You are invited to the launch of this new and exciting community group!

We will host workshops and share information around health and wellbeing. At this first meeting we will spend time brainstorming with guests to see what they would like to discuss or find out about. We hope to cover ideas such as as:
Digital cafes
Information for carers
Fuel/ insulation
Scam awareness
Neighbourhood policing
Home security/ fire alarms
How to use NHS app
Men's health

Moving forward the group will meet on the second Thursday of the month. We will provide refreshments so please pop in for a cuppa and a biscuit.

This new initiative is supported by Threeways Surgery, the Parish Council, Carers Bucks, NHS Buckinghamshire and South Bucks PCN.

WI Meeting

For the WI’s first meeting of the year, we will be discussing the resolutions proposed by our National Federation for this year, and voting on the most popular. We will also have a demonstration by local charity Thames Valley Heartbeat on how to perform CPR and use the defibrillator in the Village Hall.

The WI offers friendship, community support, educational opportunities, new activities and fun. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month, 2.15pm - 4pm at Stoke Poges Village Hall.

Talk: Slough Folk at War

This month, the WI will be joined by Richard Emerson, who will recall how the people of Slough were affected by the war and how they managed to cope. We know lots about the history of Stoke Poges and this will help us to learn more about our near neighbours!

At our March meeting of the WI, Dr Jill Eyers will join us for a talk on diet and recipes down the ages.

Talk: Exciting Wildlife from Around the World

A talk by award-winning photographer Tom Way, focusing on various wildlife hotspots around the world which he has been fortunate enough to visit to photograph amazing wildlife in their natural environments. Tom describes his adventures photographing penguins in The Falklands, orangutans in Borneo, blue whales in Sri Lanka and his biggest passion of all - the big five in Africa.
